Now, which country was the province again?

Maybe now for the WC qualifying Bertje will see the benefit of having 2 wonder strikers...

Afaik it is similar as with Taiwan, officially it is Dutchland province of Holland, while the locals refer to it as Deutschland.

Just to illustrate my point, see what the provincial governor is wearing...

GER-NDL 2-0 at half-time, and the Germans own the match.

Strange that Huntelaar isn't in the starting line-up in a must win game - but okay, the big trouble for the Dutch is the defence...

Gomez is incredibly efficient, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets bought by Real Madrid or Man United after the tm.

I admit that I am not too interested in football. But I need new software, and that company offers a 5% discount per German goal. So if Germany scores 15 goals today, that would be great. The number of Dutch goals doesn't matter...

And then they call Dutchies cheap...

Greece need to improve their defence. I am not sure if their formation is excessively based on advancing forward, but being 0-2 after 6 minutes is not a good commencement of the game Smiley. Some of the goal kicks were due to Czech Republic midfielders not succeeding with crosses into the centre, but there should not have been so many crosses allowed by the defence anyway.

Great problems with the defence indeed. imo wrong preselection of goalies (at least 2 out of the 3 chosen look really dubious to me), plus we lost the 2 main stoppers (injury & red card).

Well it's pretty much mission impossible now vs. Russia (last time we beat them was in 2009, World Team Ch, round 2: 2,5-1,5  Wink Grin ).

Poland-Russia was a nice game to watch. A lot of hatred though..

I strongly disagree in one point: If Robben shoots the penalty he will score this time or in the final.

About the other prognoses - my opinion will be ready after the two matches Holland - Deutschland.  Wink

We'll see indeed. It can be a fun last round if Denmark and Germany now lose Wink

The worst two games of the first round were Greece-Poland and France-England. The two most entertaining games were Spain-Italy and Ukraine-Sweden.

Sure, Ukraine-Sweden wasn't played at the same level as Spain-Italy, but it was definitely exciting.

I picked Spain to win the title, and my bet still looks solid enough despite Germany's form in game one and Spain's defensive worries.

England was deeply disappointing to me. They defended too deep too often and had very few positive contributions to the game. Denmark did a better job counter-attacking than England did. When England's back four drift into their own goalie box, the other side should rejoice. Perhaps Ukraine will beat France, giving the winner of England-Sweden a chance to qualify second.

Well understandably the English players dont want to leave Terry out of their sight, you never know whose wife he is after now...

Team England visited a Polish orphanage today. "It's heart-breaking to see their sad little faces, so devoid of hope" said Igor, aged 6.

Anyway we'll see wednesday, when Robben will miss a penalty, Van Persie blunders away 2 more sure goals and our defense is caught napping and Ozil is allowed free passage to the goal. Wink
