Better Tie-Breaker?:
Discard the "Random" from Fischer Random Chess!

Someone already started a thread with this topic; I'd prefer to keep the Chess960 discussion there.

I have nothing against Chess960, but it should be kept separate from chess tournaments, and especially chess championships.

Players will still prepare those positions. And eventually if there is an abundance of Chess960 positions, eventually all 960 will have their own theory...

And using Fischerrandom to determine the classical chess champion is not oxymoronic?

What is the best tie-break scheme for the WCChamp matches?

First do some rapid- / blitz- / Armageddon games to break the tie, and then start the regular match. This way it's always that one of the players is trailing and has do play for a win.

Draw odds are bad. Your plan amounts to earned draw odds; but it still distorts the real game, encouraging one player to make foolish moves hoping for a blunder in reply.

Using Speed chess to determine the classical WCChamp is an oxymoron. So....

Better Tie-Breaker?:
Standard long time-control games of chess960-FRC, with players told the particular start setup the day prior.
Rotate colors by player_1 having White, Black, Black, White, White, Black, Black,.... until somebody wins one game.

At properly long time-controls, such games of chess960 might have a much lower draw rate than for the traditional setup.
Such games would involve more variation in the qualify of play during the opening phase, thus generating more possibilities for a decisive advantage.

Discard the "Random" from Fischer Random Chess!
