Aren't engines the only taboo in CC?

No, they're not. Unless explicitly stated.

I don't have Houdini, but I have Fritz12 picked up surprisingly enough for $20 at Target.

This is from the official site. Completely free!
http://www.cruxis.com/download/Houdini_15a.zip
It will be enough for you. Just install it properly in your Fritz 12 GUI and you'll be ready!  Wink

I also have access to firebird (stronger than Fritz12 because of the whole multi-core being turned on.)

Not necessary if you use Houdini 1.5a  Cool

I can't say what my real strength is. Really depends on the day. I think on a good day I'm probably near 1900 but on a bad day 1600.

You see, strange things happen.. Earthquakes, weather changes.. All this.., you know!..  Grin

I also have a rather fair chess library.  I'll post back with details later.

Well, this one is always necessary.. Especially opening books!  Wink

When do you need a response?

These things can take a while to get up and running, so the sooner the better. Once there is a definite interest in a match, i will make a proposal at Ficgs, and see if the terms are acceptable. Then we should be good to go..

I'm not that strong, but I would play if we don't get a team full of strong players.

If I'm not mistaken, standard ICCF is that every 10 moves you gain 30 days. I would be happy to play at that speed or something resembling it. I'm only one guy, of course.

I'm not interested in playin cc on a server that makes no allowances for vacations or medical emergencies. If this match is to be played and can't be arranged on ICCF, I suggest that LSS be the venue for it.

Also I suggest proper cc time limits. 30+1 is very fast for cc.

Ficgs gives 45 days vacation each year. It really is a good server, Thibault who runs it is a lovely guy.

30 + 1 time limits was a suggestion, but is negotiable - whatever the majority prefer I would say.

I agree with Markovich, and if his conditions are met, I'd love to play.

Would it mean joining FICGS?

It would seem to be the most straightforward way to make the match happen, as there is a readymade server that can hold all the games and clock times on one page. The FICGS sign-up is very easy. Plus all the games could be transmitted on Chess Pub also, then members of both forums can follow the action...

Chess Pub vs Ficgs match?

Hello all,

I play a little "correspondence" chess on the FICGS server. Ficgs have previously played games against  a Russian server and more recently against the Rybka Forum. A new opponent is being sought, so i thought i would put out a feeler here and see if there is enough interest to create a team for the match.

Possibly a 12 board, double game match with the time limit of 30 days + 1 day increment.

Anyone interested?
