I nominate this for ChessPub comment of the year.

You're too kind.

Punctuation humour is not universally popular it seems Wink

According to amazon.de we can expect some more books from Lakdawala
- Botvinnik: Move by Move (September 2013)
- The Nimzo-Larsen Attack: Move by Move (February 2014)

Probably these won´t be his last ones ...

Well, 2013 -> 2,013... Next year -> 4,026... Big deal!
Once again, not even a slightest chance to compete with Kalinichenko!

Again, it would be interesting to see the actual figures. For comparision, Raymond Keene claims to have written more than 140 books on chess according to Wikipedia.

I'm not sure the Subject of this thread needs the colon.

I'm not sure "Subject" needs to be capitalized. But I'm not going to go about correcting grammatical errors. I'm the moderator, not the editor.

I'm not sure you got the joke...

I'm not sure I got the joke either, but perhaps:

1) Lackdawala publishes so many books that his writings constitute a subject unto themselves

2) Lackdawala's purple prose is so self-conscious that he could be said to write in the voice of the (German Idealist) philosophical Subject.

As in "2,013 books to be published ..."

Not bad, really.

I don't get it either. A wordplay on colon and human anatomy, or what?

They have some prolific authors in German language too, Jerzy Konikowski for example.

Usually a very large output is a bad omen for quality. Therefore the few cases of authors who manage to write a lot of books but still typically maintain high quality really impress me. Of English-language authors, John Nunn, John Emms, Neil McDonald and Richard Palliser come to mind.

I noticed that Kalinichenko has a new book on Ivanchuk published by NIC.  I wasn't exactly seduced by the .pdf sample.

I recall Carsten Hansen reviewing a couple of Kalinichenko's opening books and using phrases like "among the worst I've ever seen," "a waste of time, money and paper" etc.

There are other very "prolific" authors in the west, iike Soltis, Schiller, Keene and even some of the people who have been in charge of ChessPublishing sections over the years. Don't know how they compare to Kalinichenko in outpot, or if anyone has bothered to do the stats.
