I agree that it looks a bit odd exposing the queen like that. I think I just checked the variation given by Eric and thought it looked fine for Black. And the piece sac didn't look too dangerous.

The variation you give seems like a good way to play for Black, and it is similar to a sub-variation I gave above, after 5 ...e5!?

6...Qd5 looks a bit odd, what about 6...Nd5 instead, and after 7 Bg3 e5!?

Sorry, for some reason the comments have ended up in the wrong place, i.e. in front of the wrong moves. The interesting continuation is:
(instead of 7. Bg5)

The variation I met is commented on briefly in Chapter 4, variation B. However, I can't find anything on what we played.

There is one game commented here at Chesspub (Dang Vu Dung-Pham Minh Hoang, 2000), but actually, what seems like an interesting sacrifice for White (suggested by Houdini 1.5a very quickly) and a very unbalanced line, is not at all in it. I have attached a PGN file with some of my comments and thoughts during the game, sorry for the rambling.

Anyway, I am of course happy for any suggestions, ideas and comments.

Yup, never thought anything else. But what I've been playing so far hasn't really been how I think corr chess normally is. I've played on my phone using an app. Most people deviate from theory after move 2 or 3 or similar...

However, the game took another direction. I will post some analysis later this week.

I hope Santa Claus brings you the book anyway. Merry xmas!

You just seem to discover that the corr. chess is a little bit different from OTB chess.  Wink
EDIT: Anyway, back to the topic (and off-topic in the same time). I'm waiting for Santa Claus, you know.. He is supposed to have this book in his bag..  Roll Eyes

I haven't seen a topic dedicated to this book yet, even though there have been comments on it in some threads. Any opinions, lines that seem good, and perhaps some that are not so good or even worse?

Btw, I have noted a side line, not even mentioned in Dealing with d4 deviations. Because I am playing a corr game in this line right now, I can't give details yet, even though it is not a serious server. I currently play Black in this line, and I am not that thrilled about the position now that I have analysed it more thoroughly (should have done that before going down the line...). It might actually be pretty scary for Black. I think White would have a much better record OTB in it. At first, the computer favours Black, but later changes to about equal. Still, I have my doubts if it can be won for either side in corr. I'll let you know later.
