sorry for nit-picking but Teutonic languages is a 19th century expression for what is nowadays called Germanic languages

Right, for a website title. But what if you actually want to say, "chess publishing?" Review  != publication.

As to Dutch, noun appositives work in Teutonic languages, the problem is with the romance languages.


Review != Publication?! Well, actually what is in question is the gerund "Publishing," which connotes among other things an ongoing process more than a static product. Superficially or apparently corresponding words in different languages have clouds of overlapping denotations and even more intangible connotations. The ear of the native speaker must be respected. Though grammar may be a science, translation is an art. This is naive coming from Markovich with his interest in poetry. You might as well say
 
Revue := Publishing++.

Note that revue doesn't necessarily translate to review, revue can also mean magazine.

The publication Europe-Echecs would be described by most francophones as a revue d'echecs.

Great, I'll use it.  So I searched on " xadrecistica" for a Portuguese analog, but only four results were returned.

Update: "xadrezistica" returns a few thousand results, so that appears to be correct.

échiquéen (masc), échiquéenne (fem) are correct French adjectives for "chess-related". Add "s" for plural in both cases.

Then I suppose it must be correct, I'm probably influenced by échiquier (chess board) with an 'i'.

I notice that échiquien(ne) -- the spelling I thought of at first then figured I was wrong -- has been used in books, but apparently échiquéen(ne) is on the order of ten times more common in books.  Seems that the former may be an older form ...

Maybe so, but there is something called la Fédération Echiquéenne Francophone de Belgique located here: http://www.frbe-kbsb.be/fefb/

In any case, I can find no analogous word in Spanish or Portuguese.

google finds some 1200 results for "revue echiquéenne" (I still don't find this adjective in a dictionary but it is used relatively frequently) and some 863000 results for "revue d'échecs"
I would still go for the latter

of course there's also the option of not translating it and still say "Chess Publishing", it is an english website after all you know, it wouldn't even cross my mind to translate it when I'm speaking in my native (dutch) language
