	Wll things seem to have got even more comprehensive for volume 2 - all of 7 Qg4 cd, 7 Qg4 o-o 8 Bd3 f5 and 7 Qg4 o-o 8 Bd3 Nbc6 ! That explains the 2 volume thing rather nicely Probably a very good idea too because relying on one fixed target against 7 Qg4 is rather dangerous.

	Well from briefly looking through the first volume, there seems to be a good reason for the three book thing. From side/footnotes in the text he's seemingly planning to cover both the poisoned pawn and 7..o-o (8 Bd3 f5) in the second book. Not precisely a work saving approach there (But a very useful one.).

	Oh goodness, three books worth? I hadn't realised it was going to get that big. Not totally sure if its all strictly required but these are all interesting lines of course so no loss

	Got the book yesterday and I must say it looks VERY good. Emanuel who has played the french defense since he was 8 (!!) years old says in the introduction :"Personally ,when reading a chess book I appreciate explanations much more than only long lines with an assesment at the end". And I must say that he keep these words through the whole book. This book is for the combative french chessplayer and I have seen several theorethical novelties here and there. 	This h6 is a high-class waiting move. He wants to see the Bf1 go somewhere before he plays b6.

	Curiously that early h6 is something I've played (its covered in Psakhis) so - as above! - I'm only sort of semi happy to see it Good pschology at club level I think as you may well persuade white to launch with g4,g5 but that doesn't really work very well without the light squared bishops. It might be quite hard to avoid buying it, yes

	Oh I know that. Rare lines are often very practical choices! Especially ones which GMs have used as surprise weapons. My query is purely about why you want a repitoire book about them (This is quite a generic request of course, it certainly isn't just you here.). All it achieves is to remove a fair bit of the surprise from the line. So more work for less practical effect.

	And seriously what is this wish from people to have their (relatively) obscure side lines covered in repitoire books? Surely more or less all you can ever get out of it is a lot more exposure of the idea and a considerable consequent loss of practical effectiveness..... If the book covers different stuff you get to expand things

	Well, I think we know he will be giving a Winawer and 3...Nf6 against the Tarrasch repertoire. I'm not a Winawer player, but I'm guessing it'll be the Qc7, cxd4 stuff. As for Nd2, I was secretly hoping he would cover Qxf6 rather than Nxf6 lines.
