A possibility is 5...Nc6 6. c4 Nxd4 7. Qxd4 g6, and 6. Be3 doesn't look very impressive e.g. after 6...e5 ...

and how do you want to force white to take back with the queen?
1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.f3 g6 6.c4 Nc6 (or Bg7 7.Be3) 7.Be3 ...
because white has saved the move Nc3 the bishop arrives in time

In the Gurgenidze system in regular accelreted Dragon black plays d6 and exchanges at d4, forcing White to recapture with the Queen.

White most critcial move agianst this plan is Be2 instead of f3. White usually plays s f3 much much later  and black plays the same moves anyway

But of course one can be a sometime 2...d6 (e.g. Dragon) player and a sometime AD player (as it happens I used to be one) ...

For example 5. f3 Nc6 6. c4 g6 7. Nc3 is an old main line position from the AD.

but an AD player won't play 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6

A possible drawback of f3 is that black can even allow a Marocy Bind dragon since a that early f3 is not White most optimal move in Gurgenidze system. This basicly means that White should still play a Dragon mainline, not that it is a bad thing only making this line pointless against Dragon players.

in a normal Maroczy bind dragon, black doesn't play an early d6 so I don't think this is correct

Well, 6. Bb5+ is the old main line.

Yes, but it does have a sting (at least for club level play, where the Black side maybe is not versatile enough to play all sorts of Sicilian setups). Well, my opinion obviously..

Dismantling the Sicilian?

Steamrollering the Sicilian?

When will we get "Taking the Sicilian into the car park and giving it a good kicking"?

Well Everyman have already done 1 f4, 1 b4 and 1.. b6 so it might only be a matter of time Smiley

iirc There was actually an old book about the St George - by Basman I think - which did have a final section about h3/a3 set ups.....

I can't help it -- when I first saw this book listed on Amazon some time ago, it made me think of one of John Watson's old Chessman comics, in which there was a book titled "Watch Out -- It's 1. h3!".

I saw this book listed in the list of upcoming books to be published by New In Chess. It offers a repertoire with 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.f3, which I wouldn't normally associate with steamrolling but I'm interested to see what the author has to offer, especially against 5...e5 6.Nb3 a5 and 6...Be7 7.c4 a5 which I consider to be very reliable equalisers.

And what about 6. Bb5+ ? (6. Nb3 looks rather tame)

Not steamrolling at all you'd think Smiley Seriously though, I think there must be a bit more to it than than just that line?

Writing a ~200 page repitoire book about that would be getting fairly insane.
