Hard to say, especially as I don't have every single one (yet). Each of them have different strengths - for instance, Avrukh's two volumes on 1.d4 has probably had the most impact on high-level chess, Marin's three volume English series has the clearest explanations, and Ftacnik and Schandorff do a good job of pointing out what you need to know (perhaps too good a job for those who like the nitty-gritty details), and the Tarrasch book was quite groundbreaking and inspiring. The other books also had their advantages, so I don't know. You can't go wrong with any of them, although my feeling from a quick glance of Mikhalevski's book is that it's aimed at a professional player trying to hold a draw with Black. That's not a criticism in itself, but it's not what I'm after in a repertoire.

So if pushed for an answer, I'd say the first one because it set a new benchmark in the opening book genre and continues to be relevant today.

I'm really not that sure about that one actually. Rather prefer the others I've got (and some of the other ones I've seen.).

They probably can't be used that usefully by 1700's but if you learn the moves from them you'll get decent positions. Or of course take the time to try and understand what is going on.

GM-repertoire Modern Benoni must be very good, too. I know of a 1700,
who learned the Modern Benoni with this book and got a winning position
against a player rated 2100+ (finally a draw). I think it is very remarkable
that this book can be used by a player rated around 1700.

I see. Well, perhaps it seems that way because this is not my native language. But I am very interested in the answers. As a mater of fact this is the only mean I have to get answers to my many questions. So far my experience here has been excellent.  Smiley

By the way I am afraid that I do not know what Troll or trolling mean. I am sorry, my English is not very good.

Your question is weird so I do understand that some people are doubting if you are serious or if you just are making fun.

I also have the impression that people are quicker than 10 years ago with labelling trolls so there is less flexibility about what is still ok to write.

I think these books with the tittle GM repertoire tend to have more variations. It Does not mean they are better but they are more dense than a lot of opening books.

True, i was just reacting to what i believed was Pingudon'd original question.

By the way, i know a lot of GMs who studied and used the repertoire proposed by "The Open Games for Black". So, yes, this could fall into that category as well.

Basically, you cannot ignore the impact of GM Rep 1 that changed the modern standards of opening books. Then, i really enjoyed GM Rep 3, but nothing compares with GM Rep 10!  Cheesy

The real question here is if other books can be considered GM Rep books even if they are not from QC. I think that definately the Triangle book by GM Sherbakov falls into that category.

not sure why that is a question, as if qc have some philosophical monopoly on gm rep books simply by using it in the title of the book?   Shocked   hahaha

chess stars ... the open games for black, comes to mind as a good choice for those people playing 1. ....e5

inexpensive and compact

Huumm my question was too difficult or too silly. Anyway I think the best GM Repertoire is the French defense. And I am still waiting the third book

There are a lot of GM opening Repertoire and the number is growing. I liked a lot the Tarrasch repertoire but I did not liked the Caro Kann so much. What do you think is the very best of the serie so far?
