But Burgess (as I now see) was talking about Gallagher-Cramling, Bern 1991, where g4 h6 would not have worked because White had already played f4 and could have forced g5. Cramling's idea was to play ...h6 before White could play g4. This game was in the 5.Nb5 line of the Taimanov, and Burgess says it was Gallagher's main reason for dropping that line in Beating the Sicilian 3!

I'm trying to locate a passage I remember reading in a book some time ago, about an interesting way to meet an advance of the g- and h-pawns against a castled king. I believe the book said that this manoeuvre was introduced by Pia Cramling in a Hedgehog. The game Nikolin-Cramling, Lucerne Ol 1982, looks like the one I'm thinking of: it went 18.g4 h6 19.h4 Nh7 20.Rg1 g5. I could have sworn that the book was Mortazavi's "Winning with the Kan", but I recently acquired a copy of that and the passage I remember doesn't seem to be there. Does this ring a bell with anyone, please?
