	Thanks for the replies everyone. Yes everything will look very different in a few years, but it seems there are not many potential champions right now - yes all of the top players are capable of beating each other on a particular day, but winning the Championship is a different proposition. Let's hope for a great match with a rejuvenated Anand so we can really look forward to the next cycle.

	I think in a couple years Ding Liren will have a shot at it. I've been very impressed by his recent play. Caruana is of course capable. His rating is outstanding, and he has a nearly even record in games against Carlsen. He's also used to being the best, and has held off strong competition in his younger years (Robert Hess). His psychology, competitive nature, and skill are all equal to the task of challenging Carlsen.

	At present, just Caruana. Not just because his rating is over 2830, but because he looks like he can control his nerves. I see Anand putting up a good fight this rematch and would not be surprised if he won, but it is way more likely Carlsen wins with +1 or +2. Kramnik is not himself anymore. Too many blunders. Maybe if he were motivated, though. Aronian does not play well vs Carlsen. I think it is because they play chess for two completely different reasons. Carlsen, to win. Aronian, because he is seeking something "beautiful" in his games. He is always trying to "create" something. Carlsen doesn't care about that aspect so much. I love Aronian to death, but I don't see him defeating Carlsen. The other young guns are still developing. One of them could easily develop into a challenger within the next year or two.

	I think: Kasparov (would need a year of competitive chess to get back into the swing of things), Caruana, Anand and Kramnik are capable of beating him. I share your belief that Aronian will never become World Champion. I think Wei Yi will pose a serious challenge in 5-8 years time. I'd love to see a British player become World Champion, I don't think it will ever happen though. I had high hopes for McShane several years ago but he decided to make more money becoming a banker, fair play to him.

	I think that's a fair summary. I believe Carlsen will pull himself out of his temporary "slump" and beat Anand but not by much. Caruana is very promising but I also share your wish to see a Carlsen v Kramnik match. If only the London Candidates last round had worked out it may have been this year's world title match !

	I was thinking about this question, and found I couldn't come up with many names at all. The only players I can see realistically beating Carlsen now are Caruana, especially after his spectacular performance at Sinquefield, and maybe Vishy. I'm going to go out on a limb and say Aronion will never be champion. Maybe he's just too nice, but he always seems to lack something at the crucial stages. I can't see Grischuk, Nakamura or Karjakin doing it either. I would love to see a Kramnik - Carlsen match but maybe the time has passed. Who else is there? Am I being too harsh, what do you think?
