Aside: I considered moving this to the English section, but since the topic covers more than just the English, I think I'll let it stay for now.

Tony, I think it's important to have your own theories of the opening, including evaluations that others may not share. For example, I think White maintains an edge in the main lines of the Slav. I don't know whether there's a consensus there, but the main lines are recommended by several authors of White repertoire books. That seems to be the best place to look for an edge for White.

However the Slav Exchange also has hidden depths that gives Black some real problems. It's possible that the Exchange also gives White a slight edge. Of course, a slight edge is not enough to win, but that's not really a problem for most OTB players.

Ah, we're back to "keeping White's advantage."

Brutal.

But so he is not recommending openings which keep White's advantage? Because if I'm not mistaken if White holds back his d-Pawn against the QGD and the Slav, and if White makes a Kingside Fianchetto against the Slav, then White completely gives away his first move advantage..

I'd be very interested in hearing how White keeps a meaningful edge against the Slav. If you have that, do share it!

You can buy the books and see what he has to say about it  Wink Or a Chesspub subscription and see what e.g. Tony Kosten has to say about it.

I will do you one better:

Marin Volume 2 Excerpt

If the TOC is not clear, he's generally going into Reti setups against ...e6, ...c6, and the Triangle, e.g. 1.c4 c6 2.Nf3 d5 3.g3 Nf6 4.Bg2, when play diverges depending on whether or not Black plays 4...Bf5, 4...Bg4, 4...e6, or 4...g6.

If you go to the Quality Chess website, a pdf excerpt of the book is available for download. The contents list and the first part of the introduction form part of this download, and the answers to your questions are in there.
