Kyle, there's something more basic here: White threatens the B, and if it moves, White threatens mate. If everything were moved over to the right one (the Ks on the c-file), Black would still lose, even with the "right" B.

If everything were moved to the left (Ks on the a-file), then Black would have a draw with Bd6. But this is primarily about White's back-rank threat when the K isn't in the corner.

One of those basic endgame things -- Black's K is in one of the wrong-colored corners ...

Black to move loses in all cases. 1...Be8 is best, but that just postpones the inevitable.
