I think it must be older than that, because I reinstalled from the version I bought on disk, which is about 20 updates ago, and the problem still happens.

I only started having the problem recently, but it could have always been present and I simply didn't notice before.

That's interesting. I've noticed the problem occurring a number of times recently (always on the same database) and, even though deleting and then re-creating the Search Booster always seems to clear it up, it's a bit of a pain having to do this. Presumably the 'problem in the software' was introduced in the latest update, as I don't remember having this annoyance before. Thanks for the info.

Integrity check didn't find any problems, and I even deleted and reinstalled the database from the disk to no avail.

I contacted Chessbase support, and they have since replied that there is a problem in the software, that will be fixed in the next update in January.

If that hasn't worked, the next thing to try might be to check the integrity of your database, which could have become corrupted. In 'Tools', as before, go down to 'Check Integrity' and click on that (it's advisable to back up your database first, using the option 'Backup database', which is also in 'Tools'). If you use the database a lot, this integrity check will probably find a few problems, which it should repair. After you've run the integrity check, try deleting and recreating the Search Booster, as before. See if that helps.

Thanks for your reply.  I tried what you suggested, but it doesn't seem to have resolved the problem.

Weirdly, if I do 'opening reference on selection' on the same selection of games multiple times, I get a different result each time.  But the result always contains fewer than 2000 games, and I have about 4800 games in the selection.

Try deleting the Search Booster and then recreating it. I've found this has worked for me in the past when I've encountered the same problem. This is how to do it:

Right click on the name of the database, scroll down to 'Tools', select 'Delete Search Booster'. When this operation has completed (it takes a second or two), right click on the name of the database, scroll down to 'Tools' again and this time select 'Create Search Booster'.

Chessbase 13 opening reference issue

I don't suppose some other Chessbase 13 users could help me with something?

When using the 'opening reference on selection' feature, the number of games appearing in the reference appears to be drastically less than the number I selected.  No matter how many games I select, the resulting opening reference never has more than about 1500-2000 games in it.

I don't know if there is some intentional limit, or if this is a bug, but it's essentially rendering the reference feature useless because I can't trust its results.

Has anyone else experienced this, or have any idea what's going on?
