My collection of twics has 91 games after 3.. Qd5, from a total of 687 after Nxe4. Somehow popular?!

Nc3 in over half. Some going Qf3 which just seems a bit daft - it doesn't even look like 4.. Bf5 5 Nd6+ really qualifies as a 'trap' given black's consequent development lead.

4 d3 a moderate amount and 4 Ng3 in three games. Sane enough.

A work by Van Geet from the '90s considered "five plausible moves" after 3. Nxe4, but not 3...Qd5.

Last weekend my opponent played 4.Qf3?! But I also know about 4.d3 and 4.Ng3 being played. I am curious what the Van Geet/Dunst opening books prefer to play for White against 3...Dd5.

Well, 4 Nc3 seems like the only challenging move...

What do Van Geet/Dunst-players play against 3...Qd5? Do they enter the Scandinavian via 4.Nc3 or do they play something else?
