An all-in-one-place book where you could go to brush up on new developments in the openings

If only there was a website that did this... Wink

Those who want to go by my perverse footsteps play such pawn structure with fuzzy atypical still strategic orientations

For tactics "Chess Tactics from Scratch" should be what you are looking for. Lots of explanations of all the tactical themes in the first part and lots of exercises in the second.

Hard to say without knowing your level, but for tactics try Neishtadt's Improve Your Chess Tactics, for positional play, Sakaev's Complete Manual of Positional Chess.  Forward Chess has both, as well as Grooten's books, many of the Quality Chess books, and others.

The book you really want is one that I don't think exists.  An all-in-one-place book where you could go to brush up on new developments in the openings, solve some tactics, review some basic endgame theory, play over a few classic games, take a few tests to see where you are most rusty, etc.

Does anyone know if there is anything like that out there?

Looking for some book reconmendations

I wanted to do some brushing up on my chess. I am looking for a good tactics book that explains the ideas, a tactic book with just a lot of positions to test, middle game strategy, and a positional play book (going over hanging pawns, isolated pawns, manevoring, etc...). The only thing is that I would like the book to be something I can use in an app so I can read it on the train to work. I know forwad chess, everyman and gambit have apps for there books. So any recommendations on a nice little chess course would be great. Thanks.
