I have a repertoire where I start with 1...g6. It then can become a Pirc, Modern (Tiger's, Hippopotamus), Sicilian (Accelerated) Dragon, Sniper, Leningrad (style) Dutch, Benko (style) Gambit, Schmidt Benoni, Dzindzi Indian or King's Indian. Depending on opponent, mood and circumstances.

I wonder what exactly you mean by "Schmid Benoni". My understanding is that's a Benoni where White hasn't played c2-c4. Black can offer that (and White often goes along), but he can't force it - White has a chance to insert c2-c4 even if the move order is 1.d4 c5 2.d5 Nf6, etc.

Move order-wise there is some logic to the King's Indian, as mn says. Direct transpositions are possible in the Classical (5.Nf3 0-0 6.Be2 c5!?) and Sämisch variations, but in both cases Black loses the chance to play the Gurgenidze system (the early ...Nxd4 when White is forced to recapture with the queen).

There's also a lot of logic to combining the Accelerated Dragon with a regular Modern Benoni or Benko Gambit (or even the Czech Benoni if you can make it work). Add the Symmetrical English and you're basically move-order proof, as you're playing lines with ...c5, ...Nf6, ...g6 and ...Bg7 in various orders against everything. Stylistically the Benko may be a better fit than the often razor-sharp Modern Benoni.

Against the Modern White can omit c4 and just transpose to 1 e4 g6 2 d4 etc., which is probably not ideal for you.

I would personally prefer the Leningrad Dutch over the Schmidt Benoni, but that's a matter of taste. As for which is most thematically consistent with the Accelerated Dragon, the answer is probably that neither particularly is, but I guess the Benoni slightly moreso.

Incidentally, I think the most thematically consistent opening to pair with the Accelerated Dragon would be the King's Indian with ...e5xd4 or ...cxd4 wherever plausible. Ultimately just play whatever appeals to you the most.

So I guess the answer to "what would you pair..." is the Leningrad Dutch, because that's what I would most like to do out of the options. I would also probably rather play the Nimzo/Ragozin or QID than the Dutch though  Smiley

Just trying to gather some insight as to which of these 3 would others consider a good pairing with the Acceleratd Dragon. Thanks for your suggestions!
