John Emms, First Steps 1.e4 e5. This is a great book for beginners, but it contains a lot of stuff that many of us more experienced players ought to know and don't. It will serve you well both in your games with White (if Black answers 1.e4 with ...e5) and those with Black (if White plays 1.e4). I wish it had been around when I learned to play.

1.e4 for White - Giuoco Piano
1...e5 for Black

The Open games are the most important for beginners to learn, because tactical proficiency and awareness are indispensable for rapid chess development. 

Chess is 90+% tactics and If you don't master tactical patterns and operations as early as possible you will never get stronger no matter how many Openings you memorise. That's why adult learners struggle so much to improve, they either miss simple tactical opportunities in attack and defence or just calculate them poorly or worse yet generalise when calculation is called for and vice versa. 

There yuh go you now have a workable blueprint.

Openings for Beginners?

I would like to know which are the best openings that can be taught to as well as learned for beginners for both White as well as Black.When I searched on you tube, I came across a few videos which recommended Italian Game for White and French, Caro Kann for Black for beginners.I would like to know which are best openings to learn for beginners and Why? Also if some one could recommend books exclusively for these openings meant for beginners so that I can learn all the fundamentals, basic plan and ideas for that particular opening, I would be grateful.

So, If you have suggestions in mind please let me know.
