You can fake it by reversing the FEN part of the string.

Thanks!

You can fake it by reversing the FEN part of the string. But people might equally be faked into thinking the pawns are going the wrong way.

Code
Select All
$ rev
8/kp2q3/p3r3/1Pp5/7R/1P2Q2P/4K3/8 w - - 0 1
1 0 - - w 8/3K4/P2Q2P1/R7/5pP1/3r3p/3q2pk/8

8/3K4/P2Q2P1/R7/5pP1/3r3p/3q2pk/8 w - - 0 1 -.> Insert FEN Diagram

* * * * * * * *
* * * * * * * *
* * * * * * * *
* * * * * * * *
* * * * * * * *
* * * * * * * *
* * * * * * * *
* * * * * * * *
*
Notice the "White to move" indicator is on black's side of the board.

It might be better to leave that off by doing it this way:

8/3K4/P2Q2P1/R7/5pP1/3r3p/3q2pk/8 -.> Insert FEN Diagram

* * * * * * * *
* * * * * * * *
* * * * * * * *
* * * * * * * *

* * * * * * * *

Advanced question(s):  Can one flip the board? If so, how?

Nice.

I was thinking Re4, until I saw that it was White to move and win.

This thread is about (not) being able to move the pieces on a diagram - i.e. analyze on the forum. But you can certainly post a static diagram.

Step by step:

1.
Paste your fen in the Message: window.
8/kp2q3/p3r3/1Pp5/7R/1P2Q2P/4K3/8 w - - 0 1

2.
Using the mouse, select your fen in the Message: window.
8/kp2q3/p3r3/1Pp5/7R/1P2Q2P/4K3/8 w - - 0 1

3.
On the toolbar, click the Insert FEN Diagram button (it's between the PGN button and the # button).

Result =>

* * * * * * * *
* * * * * * * *
* * * * * * * *
* * * * * * * *
* * * * * * * *
* * * * * * * *
* * * * * * * *
* * * * * * * *
*

Horwitz (1873), White to move and win.

I've tried repeatedly to post a board diagram. Clicked on FEN insertion menu and attempted both with [FEN " "] and just with " ".  Nothing.  Last post says "there it is" . Where ?
Searched entire HELP file with no results.

oh interesting, doing the chessbase might work, where you post the analysis on the chessbase blog feature. it might work.

The PGN button here is externally hosted, on modern browsers the external part is blocked which is why it's not working for you. But other solutions are also brittle, for example the board on the chess.com forum doesn't work in all my combinations of os/browser. Also problems with chessbase.com, etc., etc.

Just paste the moves and/or attach a pgn. It's good enough. Many readers here are advanced and can follow the moves in their head. If your analysis is extensive, an attached pgn is a real service to your readers. Makes it much easier for them to analyze in the chess GUI of their preference, instead of in a crippled browser.

this forum doesnt have the option to input a board with pieces for analysis?

my god how long has this forum been around.

am I wrong?

I try adding the pgn, but it only gives the option to download,
the fen only gives the option to input a diagram as opposed to analysis.

this is rough. geez.
