For a while, CI was bundling 4 Chess Iinformants to download at half price. Rather than getting your download CI when it came out, you would get a year's worrth of CIs after about one year. I was leaning hard in that direction - and then they stopped.

You may already be aware of the USCF's pricing, but in case you aren't, they offer a four-issue subscription of Chess Informant on CD for $47.95. The corresponding price for the print editions is $129.95. The cost would be even less if the CDs are purchased during one of USCF's sales offering 20 or 25% off. Sahovski/Chess Informant offers a bundle of four print issues for $59.95, but that doesn't include the cost of shipping from Europe.

I have not looked at the line and do not have Chess Informant 157, so I can't help.

I bought a Quality Base and consider it a good value. It contains the annotated Chess Informant games. However it does not include the articles that are now included in a Chess Informant.

Does anyone here get the Informant, I wonder? I haven't obtained one in many years.

I'm curious as to what the theoretical survey by Szabo is about. That code (E91) mainly covers two secondary lines in the Classical KID: 6...c5 and 6...Bg4.

(The latter is occasionally seen -- and was advocated for White in a product authored by Kuljasevic -- with an extra tempo for Black via 6. Bd3 Bg4 7. Be2. The regular version seems to be a perennial "+/= with best play" kind of line. Shouldn't the extra tempo suffice to shift that to equality? An interesting question, apparently.)
