Some slight plusses are more than others.  Grin

Sometimes slight plusses mean a nagging edge, chess speak for 'Being tortured for a long time, with only the grim prospect of a half point in sight.'

Other Slight edges could mean one side has the better practical chances, or a slightly sounder pawn structure, or something like that.

The Voronezh edge is more like the former, that is, 'Heavy torture, grim defence and little reward'

Play 5...ed6 and save yourself the heartache.

Regards

hello!
Are there news about 9...Nc6 10.d5 Nb4 with the idea ...e6? ???
thanks!

In my view Black should just play 9...e5 (I know that 9...f5 is considered viable by some, but I mistrust it) and then just play chess.  I am not an Alekhine specialist, but I have looked at the lines following 9...e5 and they just do not seem that bad for Black.  I do not understand why White has more than his += birthright.  Maybe someone will be good enough to correct me, but I am not exactly terrified by the prospect of being Black in this variation.

You know, a whole lot of opening theory just turns into chess games that either player might fairly easily win -- regardless of what the chin-stroking poo-bahs say.
