13.Nb3? looks awful, weakening Pf3 and tying Qb4 to defence of Na4.

After a quick look, 13.Nc3 seems alright, as 13...Rb8 14.Qa3 d5 can be met by 15.Qxa6 - but I guess Kramnik saw something wrong here...

In a way it's comforting to see that even a worldchampion can play like a patzer once in a while!  Shocked

I was think about the same when I was following this unusal game yesterday.

maybe 10.Ne2 instead of Na4 could be a way for white to play against 9...b4.

As in Iordachescu,V - Lutz,C 2004 (1-0)

I followed Kramnik-Topalov with some interest this morning, and was stunned by how quickly Topalov finished off the world champion.  11 ... Ne5 seems new.  Thoughts?  I noticed that at Chessbase, they felt that Kramnik should not have accepted the pawn on b4, which was my feeling at the time.  How should White proceed?  Is this a strong new move, or one that likely will be dealt a harsh lesson the next time it appears in a top flight game?
