Another week has passed, and the Broncos look to be the second best team in the NFL. As much as I love my Broncos, this may be a false impression. The Broncos are one play away from being 7-1 instead of 6-2 going into their bye week. The rest of their schedule looks much easier than their first half of the season in which they faced Jacksonville away, NY Giants away, and both of the Super Bowl finalists at home. But, the second half of the season has us travelling to Kansas City (one of the most difficult places to win), Oakland, San Diego, and two other games. We still have to face Buffalo, the NY Jets, Dallas, and Oakland a second time. We have a week to lick our wounds. (Champ Bailey's hamstring injury will take much more than one week to recover.) Indy is clearly the class of 2005 so far, bt there are many unanswered questions both about Indy and many other teams. I don't see a favorite coming out of the NFC unless the NY Giants use their last second victory over use to springboard into first overall. Right now, my picks for the top teams in the league are: AFC: Indy, Denver, Pittsburgh, New England, with Cincy and an undetermined team to also make the play-offs. NFC: (Right now): NY Giants, Detroit, Tampa Bay, Seattle, with Philly and Chicago being the likely wild-card teams. I am far more confident in my choices for the AFC than the wide-open NFC. Dallas still looks good as do a number of other teams. My sober, unobjective pick for the Super Bowl winner, half-way through the season is the Colts. But I am rooting all the way for the Broncos, who have played extremely well at times and could beat anyone at home and almost anyone away. What do you all think?
