Owen Defence can also shift to Hippopotamus after 1 e4 b6 2 d4 Bb7 3 Bd3 g6
A book has been devoted to it ( see another thread in this section)

I'd be very interested to have your thoughts and analytical suggestions in respect of the stuff contained in two previous big threads on the Owen's on here (GM Bauer  "Play 1...b6" , Everyman; and The Owen's -- a defence whose time has come?), and especially thoughts/suggestions on Suttercane's 10 ...g5!? in the main(?) line as proposed in the first of these threads.

No. You get much more play against White's centre in the English Defence 1. d4 e6 ; 2. c4 b6
