This is fully justified, as Keres has played this many times before WW-II; against Euwe, Alekhine and Capablanca amongst others.
  
The book had the effect good books usually have: it made the stupids more stupid, the intelligent more intelligent and the other thousands of readers remained unchanged.

I've played it a few times after reading John Emms articles about it on www.Chesspublishing.com, you can find these using the search facility. There is also a chapter about it in his Bogo/QI eBook and several interesting games. Roll Eyes
I think it is a good weapon to use if you play the Bogo, and don't mind playing the French, and want to avoid the Qc2 Nimzo. Smiley

I tend to consider the check to be a bit premature, as compared with the Bogo-Indian, White has not committed his Knight to -f3 and may prefer f3 and Ktge2.
3. Ktbd2 is probably the best answer, for example, 3. ...Ktf6 (3. ...f5 ; 4. g3 transposes to the Deferred Dutch, somewhat better for White) ; 4. a3 Bxd2 ; 5. Bxd2 0-0 ; 6. Bg5 d6 ; 7. e3 Ktbd7 ; 8. Bd3 e5 ; 9. Ktge2 with an edge to White. Also in your line 3. Bd2 a5 White can play the immediate 4. e4 (cf. 1. d4 Ktf6 ; 2. c4 e6 ; 3. Ktf3 Bb4+ ; 4. Bd2 a5)

Hello,

I think 1.d4 e6 2.c4 Bb4+ 3.Bd2 a5 4.Nc3 Nf6 5.e4 d6 from Sokolov-Adams '96 looks critical, even though black won the game, because black can't win the e-pawn because of a later Qg4. There has not been much follow -up in this line though. Black can avoid this in equlivalent 3...Qe7 line, but this move is maybe not so handy with transpostions.
                      Bogdan Lalic was playing 3...a5 in the recent British, worth checking out these games too.

I recently got curious about the move order

1.d4 e6 2.c4 Bb4+

Ok the games often transpose to a nimzo or Dutch but it has also some intependet lines like 3. Bd2 a5.

I am wondering if somewhere is an artical about this line. (I am rather intressted in independet "non transposition" lines)

Anyway what is the puplic oppinon in about this. Intressting or questionable?
