I wonder if Pahtz recommends 7...b6 or 7...Nc6 after 4.Ngf3 Nf6 5.e5 Nfd7 6.Bd3 c5 7.c3; I've always felt that these lines should somehow be better for White but I haven't found anything concrete against 7...b6.

Her games against Schneider (2010) and Mason (2009) give a pretty good hint Wink (see chesslive.de).
She does briefly mention the other way of playing it, but I don't know whether it's a matter of taste or objectivity or whatnot, as I don't understand a word of German (apart from the moves Roll Eyes)!

In this interesting variation (3.Nd2 Be7) 4.e5 c5 5.Qg4 is recommended now. Is here somebody who has analysed this ?

Well, there have been some posts on the move 3...Be7 4.e5 Nh6!?. It's amazing stuff, actually.
Here are the two links:

g6 is one system ... and (as said above) already subject in chesspublishing 2003

One line is: 5...g6 6.dxc5 (Jaracz-Lputian, 2003 (McDonald on Chesspublishing)) Nd7! 7.Bb5 (7.Ngf3 Bxc5 8.Bb5 Bxf2+ ; 7...Qc7 will transpose in positions I don't like for Black, despite of Adams recommendation Qc7: 6..Qc7 7.Ngf3 Nd7 : one example: Nevednichy-Picard,StAffrique 2004)  Bxc5 8.Nb3 (8.Ngf3 Bxf2! ; 8.a4 a6 9.Bxd7 Bxd7 10.Ngf3 unclear) Qb6 9.Bxd7 Bxd7

Can someone point me in the right direction (as white) in this line:  1. e4 e6  2. d4 d5  3. Nd2 Be7  4. e5 c5  5. Qg4 g6?  I realize that black has disrupted his kingside in order to reserve the right to castle, but my queen feels a little out of place on g4 now.  What is the plan for white?  Thanks.

There were some updates on Chesspublishing ... and it's not too difficult to use the Search function.

At current time, the critical move is Kf8 as in Nevednichy-Pelletier,2005 (update august 2005) ... two years before g6 was analyzed and I think it's a good move ; g5 is dismissed by Psakhis: 5..g5 6.Qh5! (6.dxc5 Adams-Morozevich,Francfort 1999 (Psakhis Nd2)) cxd4 because of 7.Ndf3 but I recorded some variations with 7...Qc7 where Black has a good game.

You can also play 4...Nh6, if you're worried about 5.Qg4.

I consider 3.. Be7 to be black's theoretically best response to the Tarrasch. The variation 4.e5 c5 5.Qg4 is important, but I think black has no reason to be unhappy. I believe McDonald has commented a few games here on ChessPub and John Watson covers it in his repertoire-book on the french.
