An update: my friend Aaron sent these lines (which we looked at in a joint analysis session a few weeks ago) in to ChessCafe.com's Gary Lane, who's posted a reply.  He seems to think that ...Qf6-f4 is promising!

What do folks think of Qf6-f4 in the following variations in Owens' Defense?

1. e4 b6 2. d4 Bb7 3. Nc3 e6 4. Nf3 Bb4 5. Bd3 Nf6 6. Bg5 h6 7. Bxf6 Qxf6 8. 0-0 Bxc3 9. bc Nc6 10. e5 Qf4!? (instead of 10...Qe7), and

1. e4 b6 2. d4 Bb7 3. Nc3 e6 4. Nf3 Bb4 5. Bd3 Nf6 6. Bg5 h6 7. Bxf6 Qxf6 8. e5 Qf4!?
