And so, the final result is:
1. South Africa
2. England
3. Argentina
4. France

Yusupov once said that “The problem with the Dutch Defence is that later in many positions the best move would be ...f5-f7” but he is surely wrong.

I dream the same, but rather for 3rd place final, if you don't mind Smiley and actually, the score would rather be like 6-3 or 12-6, since none of these teams seem to care much for scoring tries. I saw Argentina-Scotland live, it was really disappointing : Argentina played only for containment, once they led the score they kicked out every attacking ball they had, and poor Scotland made too many hand fouls to catch up. Looked like a nightmare France-England  Embarrassed
Of course all these teams are very strong, and everything can happen ! Here is a tentative chess equivalent right now:
- France = Morozevich, sometimes brilliant but often disappointing ;
- South Africa = Ivanchuk, a formidable opponent always playing strong ;
- England = Adams, a technical grinder but needs to be in good form ;
- Argentina = Gelfand, strong and stubborn, and currently doing well.
So, who will win this time? ...

I'll go for a Springboks-Les Bleus final. While I support the Springboks, Ive a funny feeling the All Bleus will win it.

BTW,

At least two more people have jumped on the semi-final bandwagon.  Surprisingly, neither of them picked the Kiwis!

Well, England-France is certainly a pleasant surprise/reward for both teams !
Just hope the final won't be Argentina-England, which would look like the rugby equivalent of a Symmetrical English...

It could be quite interesting: these countries have a lot of common history Cheesy

Only six of the total votes went to teams that made it to the semis, and I am pretty sure that at least two of those votes came in the last 48 hours.  So much for the favorites going through!

I think I voted SA. Must be nostalgia due to some of the names and the win they had in SA.

So far, SA has 3 votes, France - 2, England - 1 and Argentina - zero.

All Bleus beat All Blacks or rather All Greys 20-18.  Shocked I wonder if it had anything to do with the Kiwis wearing grey?? Sad

It was the stare Wink

Great game that was. Now hopefully we'll see a SA-France final Cool

So, as I wish England wins the championship, I'll bet on France for the semi-final Wink (soon selling my house will not be enough!!)

Read that the french deliberately made their strip a darker shade of blue in anticipation of such a match! In any case the Kiwis maintain their reputation as world cup chokers. Perhaps they need a greater supply of cough drops come next world cup, esp so when it will be on their home soil in 2011.

Springboks - Fiji & Pumas-Scotland played on Sunday.

So SF lineups - England- Les Bleus & quite possibly Springboks -Pumas

If France gets past the Kiwis that is.

Well, if England can beat Australia, then anything is possible! Wink
