Is it England-France in the semi?!?

If France gets past the Kiwis that is. That game is also on today. Should really be a cracker.

Well, England are in the SFs, beating the Wallabies 12-10. No tries by England just the boot of Jonny Wilkinson at work as usual, kicking in 4 penalties. 1 Try, 1 conversion & 1 penalty by the Wallabies.

Seems to be the only way England are adopting to progress when playing against better teams......strategise to force opponents to concede penalties & kick them in. Very imaginative indeed!

So thibdb, any money lost this time? cos now we have at least 1 European team in the SFs. Cheesy

Soon, I'll have to sell my house!! Cry
But to be honnest I am very glad with the result and start dreaming of a new world title for England. But I wrote it, it will surely not happen  Undecided Cheesy

Well, it's the best I've seen England play in the last ... four years! Even the French commentators were impressed. Shocked
Is it England-France in the semi?!?

Or rather : considering that this World Cup is in France, they wanted to win with panache and spurned first place in their group so they can successively defeat New Zealand, Australia and South Africa, after which they'll send an appplication for the Tri Nations.

Which three nations? Gascogne, Languedoc and New Caledonia?  Cheesy

A lot of French commentators are (justifiably) somewhat annoyed about the fact that this is the French World Cup, and yet their quarter-final will actually be played in Wales! I wonder if this has ever happened before? Undecided

Well, this is the French World cup, but with 3 matches including 1 QF to be played at the Millenium Stadium, Wales & 2 pool matches to be played at Murrayfield,Scotland. The French could have played their QF at Saint Denis, France if they had topped their grp, but they blew that chance against the Argies. So in a way its also their fault. Luck of the draw quite possibly also playing a part, like the French ending up in Grp D

In 1999 the WC was hosted by Wales with grp matches played in England, Scotland, Ireland & France. France had all their grp C matches played at home then. SF's at Twickenham, London (tho i suppose one can argue why not in cardiff, Wales?) Wales wld have had to travel if they made it there, but they didnt

Did William the Bastard actually make Britain (including Wales and Scotland) a colony of France and forgot to tell the rest of the world?

Um, yes, actually, though I'm not sure it was such a big secret.  And he imported half of its language, too...

Wow,

Even when Japan and South Korea co-hosted the football World Cup, the host nations didn't travel outside their own country!  (But Korea would have had to travel to the finals if they had made it that far.)

I'm beginning to lose respect for the entire sport of rugby.  Are all the best venues on Britain?  Did William the Bastard actually make Britain (including Wales and Scotland) a colony of France and forgot to tell the rest of the world?

Lips Sealed

Sheesh!

Come on Les Bleus, want another game like '99, but will settle for the result. It is just about possible because the all blacks have lost more often to them than anybody I think. Here's hoping anyway, would open up tournament nicely for other teams...

No particular injury, but in coach Laporte's schemes he usually stands in around 60th minute.
His kindest knicknames in France are "The Animal" and "The Beast". If you watch the match, don't miss Chabalmaniacs wearing long wigs and cavemen suits Smiley

Well in Paris it was hard to escape the chabalmaniacs on tv in the various pubs. I even saw a cooking book with him on the front cover Grin

Unfortunately Chabal won't start the match against NZ but we are very confident that he will leave the field on a stretcher if he comes in during the match, which is likely. As for the chances of France beating NZ they might be greater than those of England vs Australia, but not much.

PS. you can also see the Mighty Frrrench Hexagon on french Euro coins.

Is he injured or something? When I was in Paris it seemed he was more popular than Henry.

PS What was his nickname in French. It was something like caveman, but I cant recall.
