7.0-0 cxd4 8.Nxd4 is more like an Accelerated Dragon, Maroczy Wall. Black has to justify 4...a6 and 5...Nd7 then.
7.0-0 Nf6 8.Be3 0-0 9.Qd2 just postpones Black's dilemma. I guarantee that many White players will chose not to play x.d5. So no Benkö.

The book had the effect good books usually have: it made the stupids more stupid, the intelligent more intelligent and the other thousands of readers remained unchanged.

Modern/Benko Hybrid!?

If White plays against the modern with c4, black is more likely forced to play a KID ...
but ...

e4 g6 d4 Bg7 c4 d6 Nc3 a6!? Nf3 Nd7 Be2 c5 d5 b5 and we have a Benko ... Smiley

problem is that white could refuse this setup with an early a4 ...
but normal unprepared player should think b5 is taken by his c4 pawn and his light squared bishop behind the pawn, which white player would expect a delayed benko gambit?
