	I like (A) and (C). As for (B), I've actually had it in a tournament game before, arising via a different move order. Objectively, Black is up a pawn, but personally, I don't like defending BDG-type positions. Now I prefer 5.Bg5 e3.

	As Black, I prefer 4...dxe4! A) 5.fxe Bb4 6.Bd3? Nxe4 B) 5.Bg5 exf3 6.Nxf3 Nbd7 C) 5.Be3 Bb4 (Kmoch variation)

	Thanks for the interesting games. In the last 2 games, it looked as if Black started playing recklessly after being surprised by f3, in an effort to refute it. I'm leaning towards kylemeister's suggestions of 4...c5 (which was what I played vs fritz) and 4...de. Still in the process of analyzing these with Rybka and feeding it my own ideas for checking... for now, it seems as if 4.f3 isn't quite as bad as it looks.

	I maximized DF10's "variety of play" to stop it from playing the same line against me game after game... as a result, it got a little too creative

	Was its opening book turned off? Surely 4...c5 should lead to a nice game of chess for Black. (Or maybe even the Caro-Kann-ish 4...de 5. fe e5 ...)

	Deep Fritz 10 played this against me: 1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.f3!? Couldn't find much of this in the DF10 database... and while I doubt many humans would be playing this against me, I'm curious to know how it should be handled. Thanks for any feedback! (pardon my ignorance if this turns out to be some well-known line) -JC (elo 2130)
