Not a bad idea, Tony!

Also, Anand's games have been analysed in several magazines that including Europe Echecs and Russian sites.  I am sure there must be quite a bit of analysis in Spanish and German, but I don't read those languages.

Btw, the original post seems to mentions "book" with analysis of games played in 2008.  Do you man that you have studied older books and saw Anand's 2008 handling, or that there are books which also analyse the 2008 match?  Which books are these?

By the way, are there are other sources that discuss the merits of Anand's opening idea?

This is the ChessPublishing Forum, why not look at Ruslan's analysis?? Huh

By the way, are there are other sources that discuss the merits of Anand's opening idea? I was interested in the Black side of this, and I saw the NIC Yearbook article (YB 89), but I haven't seen much else.

New In Chess Magazine 2008/8 provides a full answer to your question in the section on the Anand-Kramnik match.

I recommend playing 15...Rg8, as supposedly Kramnik had prepared a strong improvement over his 3rd game which gives White an advantage.

Ok, so I've read some books, understood the concepts and basic ideas behind the meran mainlines and have decided to go with the up to date theory laid down in Bonn 2008 in the WCC match with Kramnik.

But.. my problem is after 1. d4 d5 2. c4 c6 3. Nf3 Nf6 4. Nc3 e6 5. e3 Nbd7 6. Bd3 dxc4 7. Bxc4 b5 8. Bd3
a6 9. e4 c5 10. e5 cxd4 11. Nxb5 axb5 12. exf6 gxf6 13. O-O Qb6 14. Qe2 Bb7 15. Bxb5

do I play 15...Bd6!? as played successfully by Anand in round 3 or do I opt for 15...Rg8!? which was used with equally good effect in round 5?

Can anyone help me understand why one move might be the better try than the other? Explain the merits of both etc?....anyone? Undecided
