As I'm playing my very first competition since 1999(!) - a blitz night at my Dublin club on Tuesday - I thought I'd best try and get my head back into thinking quickly.

This is a game I played on FICS the other day.

Due to it being 5-minute blitz, there isn't the time to think - ie, "worry"(!) - whether a move is altogether sound or not - otherwise, I'd have been thinking "Oh no! - that's too risky!". It was just a case of "throw anything you can find on your side of the board at the opponent" type of game.

Someone with a good engine (the latest versions of Rybka, Fritz or Hiarcs, for example) can have some fun seeing just how much was missed - by both sides - in terms of offensive and defensive possibilities.
