Dunno, don't have that one.  Was thinking of something more along the lines of Andy Soltis's new Chess Master book, where he says that it's not the ability to calculate more moves that takes you to the next level, but the ability to recognize the important features of a position -- ie, to figure out what matters most.

I'd like one that explains how to analyze games.  Something like a video version of Timman's Art of Chess Analysis, where the author presents some instructive GM games paying special attention to plans, idea, critical moments, which pieces to trade, etc.  Should be relatively simple to do.  Just have to find the right presenter.

Something like that would be good...but does King's Calculation DVD count?

Chessbase still hasn't produced one containing a rep for Black against the anti-Sicilians.

I'm ambivalent. I think it's great to cover White ideas in the 1.d4 & 2.c4 realm but I'm not sure I like Ftacnik for this or the DVD coming in at under 6 hours.

Fascinating that this one is on the New in Chess website (seemingly already available) before Chessbase themselves announce it.

I wonder what they mean by "classical repertoire" for white, Nimzo Rubinstein, mainline Nc3+Nf3+Bg5 QGD, Classical King's Indian, Nf3+Nc3 versus the Slav...? One thing that should certainly be interesting is what Ftacnik will recommend against his own pet the Grünfeld.

I got this DVD some months ago. It sucked. Very general comments against a basic repertoire that seems to him to be "good enough" for a club player. There are probably some things to be gleamed but....

GrizzleBazzle, looks like you finally got the Kan DVD you wanted...

Speaking of which, are there any reviews of this DVD? I'd expect it to be pretty high quality given that Lilov has consistently excellent lectures on Playchess.com, ICC and Chess.com, especially Playchess.

"How to Beat Younger Players?" Really? They couldn't come up with a better subject?

I think I need this.  I'm 83 years old and tired of losing to all these young guys lately.

Martin did do a fantastic job of the ABC Evans gambit which I enjoyed thoroughly however... it was clearly intended as an introduction. I would prefer to see one that might be a little more in depth instead by someone that actively plays it all the time!

I wouldn't want to see a Two Knights. I think that's been covered enough. What I would want to see is an Italian 3...Bc5 combined with the rest (KG, Vienna, Danish/Goering,Four Knights, Bishop's opening, Scotch) DVD. I'm supposing your Short suggestion would be covering it for White because he's very good in it (too bad Andrew Martin did one already). Actually the KG might be a better choice for him.

If there was a Two Knights DVD, isn't there somebody else who might be better? Fat chance perhaps of getting Onischuk. Still, I must admit that Hebden is a good choice, trw.

Quite honestly what i'd really like to see is something like the 2N covered by Mark Hebden or an Evans Gambit for Experts by Nigel Short  Cheesy
