The book has arrived. First impression

* a decent amount of reference from around the end of last century and the beginning of this one (most recent reference at the first scan 2003)
* The author doesn't rate 1. e4 c5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3. e5 Nd5 4.Nc3 e6 5. Nxd5 ed 6. d4 highly. Acoordign to him white is on top.

2 questions:
- afaik Naidisch played 2. ...Nf6 a couple of times recently - arent these games mentioned?
- so the line you mentioned above refutes 2. ...Nf6?!

The older, the better - over 2200 and still rising.

The book has arrived. First impression

* Hardcover and nicely produced.
* Figurine Algebraic Notation
* The English is fairly acceptable. Not perfect but more then OK.
* Max 2 diagrams per page, 2 textcolums per page.
* A lot of verbal explanation
* TOC placed at the end of the book
* A lot of old game references, not surprisingly as it is not a fashionable opening.
* a decent amount of reference from around the end of last century and the beginning of this one (most recent reference at the first scan 2003)
* The author doesn't rate 1. e4 c5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3. e5 Nd5 4.Nc3 e6 5. Nxd5 ed 6. d4 highly. Acoordign to him white is on top.
* In Part three the focus is on the positional features of the position, even discussing an English line with a similar pawnstructure

If is as good as it looks this could be an exellent book indeed

ordered the book, haven't received it yet.

My guess is that it is a translation of a 2007 book in Russian.

Nikolay Kalinichenko, the Russian Schiller so I'm told, also publishes for Russian Chess House.

The guy at least plays it regulary so I'm hopefull.

Improving on other books: not really that interested in that, hoping for a lot independed material. My impression is that there is still a lot of chess information that doesn't get out of the ex-Soviet Union.

I'll be interested to see where Bogdanovich improves over De La Villa's analysis of 3.e5 Nd5 4.d4!? and 3.Nc3. I probably won't purchase this book since this system has never seemed like an attractive variation to me, but hopefully the authors will cover the opening objectively and concede that White obtains the advantage in some lines.

Any additional information on this book ( http://www.newinchess.com/Play_2___Nf6__in_the_Sicilian-p-1853.html )?
The Table of Content looks a bit mangled and has no page numbers. The price is not particularly low, so I hope for a relatively heavy-weight product with some independent analysis.
