Nisipeanu - Reinderman is interesting (see chessgames.com for this European Championship
game)
It appears Reinderman did not trust Marin's analysis
on the Alburt and played something Marin mentioned
as defintely bad for Black!!

I believe you are right, Carlsen will avoid the Alekhine now that he is being guided by Kasparov. I believe Reinderman may be saving some pet Alekhine lines for certain players down the road, so we may not see it played again in the event, or if we do the "critical lines" will be avoided...for now!

Once I saw an interview with a football (european
football) player where, after asked who would win, he
stated the amazing sentence "forecasts, only at the end"

So, here, I will let my more intelligent mind (I think) be "flooded" by a less intelligent one, and state the same

"I will tell you after I see him replying to e4"

Anyway, what is curious is that in these two games, the critical lines were yet not played.

I was also hoping to see Short, or even Nakamura to play the Alekhine
(I think Carlsen will no longer play the Alekhine), but
my "forecast" now, is that they will not play it in this tournament

Ok, two Alekhine's Defences against 1.e4, the result? A loss and a draw. Will he continue to use the defence or resort to plan B...whatever that is. As a GM one would expect a highly developed and varied opening repertoire...what will he play facing his third 1.e4? Undecided One may assume that anyone playing 1.e4 will now have something prepared against the Alekhine's.
