That is fine, if that is the policy then you should adhere to it. But would you know when an excerpt of the book would be given?

Would it be fine to ask what the repertoire choices are? Smiley

And when would it be finally published?

You can ask, but I don't know whether I'm authorized to tell you. Sorry.

As to when, I'd guess (without actually knowing) that it'll go to print pretty soon. Smiley

432 pages!! Whoaaa  Cheesy
Will it be published on the slick pages as Sherbakovs book?
I like that paper a lot. It not only feels nice, but it takes up a lot of less space in my overly crowded bookcase.

Hopefully it will. But I don't actually know that either.

I am looking at my copy of the 3rd Edition, and the minor lines seem to be encompassed in the last chapter entitled "Odds and Ends", which stems from pp. 256-263. If the book is not going to be more than 300 pages, I do not see how minor lines can possibly occupy more than 150, or even 100 pages of the 4th edition.

How about if it's 432 pages? Wink

On this book, Watson is working for his publishers, not Tony.  He owes absolutely nothing to us on the subject of the book, merely on account of his being the resident French specialist here.

Patience, patience!

Well, he could aleays give some statement on the "French update". He's previously showed that he to some extent followed the French discussion on the Forum.

What kind of proof is that?

Well, seeing as he's the guy who writes the French updates, maybe he could be persuaded to give some details about the book in the forum?

I think there is about 0% chance of this happening!

It definitely is coming out.  Everyman has it listed for June on the Continent, and August in the States.

Thank you for the speedy response. Hate to think I now have to wait several months for it after whetting my appetite!

Now that we know there's a two-part GM repertoire on the French coming, it's no longer a big deal whether other books cover enough minor lines. It will still be difficult to decide which new french books to buy, though.

I would definately buy the QC chess book that comes before the 2 volumes GM Rep first! A bonus is that the proposals don't overlap!

Anyway, lots of us French fans "grew up" with Watson's books. SO definately i want to see his 4rth edition of his classic book. I hope that it will happen in August and not long after that.
