Yes, that is correct. The only extant example, by transposition, is Skembris-Gheorghiu, 1984 Olympiad.
That game was drawn.

Zilbermints Gambit of the Reti? Who ever came up with that name? Not me! The line 1 Nf3 g5 is called the Herrstrom Gambit.

Sorry for the mistake. I recall you started a thread on the Herrstrom Gambit and wrongly assumed it was your gambit.

@linksspringer

After 1.e4 c6 2.g4 d5, 3.e5 is inaccurate due to 3...g5! when the e5-pawn is chronically weak. White should prefer 3.Bg2! de4 4.Nc3 when we have a Zilbermints Grob where Black has played the horrible move ...c6.

Well, since there is a thread on off-beat lines against the Caro-Kann, it would be remiss of me not to mention the Zilbermints-Grob Counter to the Caro-Kann, 1.e4 c6 2.g4! d5 3.e5 and the mobility of the Bc8 has been cunningly restricted.

I should also mention the topic on Davies' latest Flank Openings update. While I welcome the coverage of 1.b4 c5 and 1.g4 d5, regrettably 2.d4! and 2.e4! respectively were not covered, still leaving a considerable gap in chesspublishing coverage.

I get the joke.

1.d4 d5 2.c4 Nf6 3.cd5 b5 is the Zilbermints Benoni reversed, with an extra tempo for White (d4).

Now that the entree has been served and digested, we will next receive a main course of the reversed Blackmar-Diemer Gambit (1.d4 d5 2.e3 e5) accompanied with a garnish of the Reversed Zilbermints Gambit (1.Nc3 d5 2.e4 de4 3.Nge2), before finishing with the dessert of the Delayed Inverted Reversed Zilbermints Benoni (1.f3 Nc6 2.Nf3 e6 3.f4 e5 4.fe5 g5).

A slight addition: 1.Nc3 d5 2.e4 dxe4 3.g4!! leads to the Zilbermints-Grob Gambit (1.g4 d5 2.e4!! dxe4 3.Nc3).

Well, I guess a second entree couldn't hurt, right?  Undecided

But there's also 1.Nf3 g5 (the Zilbermints Gambit of the Reti) as an appetiser, and who could forget 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Nf6 4.Ng5, the subject of a fine sloughter and the new ChessBase DVD, 'just back in from the night-club': http://www.chessbase.com/shop/product.asp?pid=490

Any orders/sacrifices/takers? Grin

Very funny. Actually, 1 d4 d5 2 e3 e5 might lead to a Colle Sistem or the French Defence, colors reversed.
The Soller Gambit is the black version of the BDG. It goes 1 d4 e5 2 dxe5 Nc6 3 Nf3 f6 .

1 d4 d5 2 c4 Nf6 3 cxd5 b5 is the Zilbermints Benoni, colors reversed, you say?  Interesting... I am not so sure of that, but there might be similarities.

The move 1 Nc3 is called the Dunst or Van Geet Opening.

Hey everyone,

I have been playing the Marshall Defense against the Queen's Gambit for awhile on the Internet Chess Club. Turns out there is lots of room for inventing or introducing unorthodox lines! For example, 1 d4 d5 2 c4 Nf6 is the Marshall Defense. Now of course 3 Nc3 leads to the Queen's Gambit. No argument there. However, what do you do after the following lines:

I. 1 d4 d5 2 c4 Nf6 3 cxd5 b5

II. 1 d4 d5 2 c4 Nf6 without 3 Nc3

Me, I call 3...b5 the Flank Gambit. The reason for this is because the pawn is gambit from the flank, a la Polish Defence, 1 d4 b5!
