I've had the impression that 6. Be3 e5 7. d5 has probably long been viewed as being in "+=" territory.  That was for example the view of ECO in 2003 and MCO in 2008.  One of the games cited by the latter is Lautier-Smirin from the 4NCL in 2006.

It's a matter of practicality. If White plays f3+Be3 then ...e5 is fine but of White plays f3+Bg5 or f3+Nge2 first then ...e5 is no longer fine. At least that's why i don't like ...s5 against the Samisch.

Just wondering if this has been refuted or is there a reason why this line which was Kasparov's regular choice is seemingly no longer played?

Anyone know of any recent games in this line?
