Do not know nothing about John Emms book, but I am curious about this new format.
Another good news for Nimzo players is another book by QCE - Sabino Brunello Cutting Edge 4 – The Nimzo-Indian

It has been said that chess players are good at two things, Chess and Excuses.  It has also been said that Chess is where all excuses fail! In order to win you must dare to fail!

Does anyone know how this book will be structured? Will the illustrative games/exercises be structured based on opening variations, or on themes?

Additionally, will this book be aimed primarily towards Black or will the coverage be balanced for both colours?

This reminds me of a book by Jansa.  I think It's called 'Dynamic Chess Strategy'.  Great book.  Problem is, I only used 1/4 of the book due to my repertoire.  Will most likely encounter the same problem with this book.

Interesting opening. Interesting format. We'll see what he'll do with it. Neil McDonald is doing a similar book on the Ruy Lopez.

At the Quality Chess forum I suggested guideline books on NID and RL. Perhaps the Everyman staff is lurking the forums for suggestions.  Wink

At a swedish music forum I suggested combining music and travel shows. Not long after, a show like that (called "Papas kappsäck") aired on the swedish TV.

Don't check me with no lightweight stuff.

Good news for Nimzo-Indian fans! A new book by John Emms is announced for 2011  Smiley

Quote:
Move by Move is a brand new series which provides an ideal platform to study chess openings. By continually challenging the reader to answer probing questions throughout the book, Move by Move greatly encourages the learning and practising of vital skills just as much as the traditional assimilation of opening knowledge. Carefully selected questions and answers are designed to keep you actively involved, and allow you to monitor your progress as you learn. This is an excellent way to study any chess opening and at the same time improve your general opening skills and knowledge.

In this book, Grandmaster John Emms revisits the Nimzo-Indian, an opening which is highly popular at all levels of chess. The Nimzo-Indian has been his favourite defence to 1 d4 for over 30 years. Here he shares his experience and knowledge, examines the opening from both sides of the board and offers answers to the all key questions.

◦Essential guidance and training in the Nimzo-Indian
◦Written by a renowned Nimzo-Indian expert
◦Incorporates an ideal approach to opening study.
