OK thx. I was thinking about taking up 7. Bc4 as my main anti-Grünfeld weapon but i can't make sense from all of these different lines that are currently fashionable...but on the club level i suspect one still gets the chance to play the exchange sac quite frequently.

Sakaev´s book Grunfeld 7.Bc4 (chess-stars.com) analyses your mentioned lines till move 30 and above. Lots of forced lines, but black has to remember far too many only moves to get the half point. Just forget the move ...Bg4 for a while, so all diligent whiteplayers get frustrated and forget their lines and analyses. Maybe houdini 2.52 will find something for black to make it playable Smiley, right now, it`s just a farce for black.
  
The older, the better - over 2200 and still rising.

yes the exchange sac line I think - Black is alive but only IF he remembers buckets loads of theory and doesnt slip up - not an attractive proposition.

I have a suspicious feeling, the short answer could be... Veselin Topalov as White in his games relatively recently!

This game just played in Wijk aan Zee made a bit of an impression on me:

This is the line from the Toppy-Anand match where Toppy smashed Anand without a move of his own being played and Anand promptly gave up the Grunfeld. This improved way of playing it for Black (not playing for ...f6 but allowing the White pawn march) looks very interesting.
