Everyman have just posted a pdf extract of the book on their site, for those interested.  Looks like the Smyslov system....

Yes, it does... He compares the C-K to the Slav in the Foreword, yet he chooses 4..Nd7. I think 4..Bf5 bears more similarity with the Slav Classical.

as
*W 1d4) Torre/Barry/Pirc/Philidor/ early _d5:early c4(QGD/Slav/QGD/etc)
*B) 1e4:e6 [+1_c5 2Nf3 a6]| 1d4:e6 2c4 Bb4+ BID/pseudoNID [+1_Nf6 NID]| 1c4:c5,_Nc6,_e5,_g6| 1Nf3:c5

I enjoy his books. They are written for Sub 2200 players. He is quite instructive and entertaining. I have seen some of his games on ICC and he has been playing the smyslov against the main line....4..Nd7. There hasn't been a book covering those systems for many years.

He isn't just choosing random openings and doing database dumps a la Schiller.

That's a relief! I was thinking to buy his books but was worried whether one can do justice to these many books in such short notice.

Hello folks.I' like to ask anyone here who has the book The Caro-Kann Move by Move if Lakdawala covers the karpov/steinitz variation too or just the classical? Thanks

This book isn't out yet - not even a sample PDF - is it? Due for publication January (but not yet!?) according to the Everyman web site..

I haven't really seen his opening books, but he is a life-long practitioner of these openings, so at least you should get some personal insight and instruction.  He isn't just choosing random openings and doing database dumps a la Schiller.

Slav, CK and London? It's probably good for him to write on 1...d6. Some change in the pawn structure and piece development.

Don't check me with no lightweight stuff.
