I have proved in 2009 that sloughter was no genius at all, by winning 5-0 against his Qf3 try on the 2Knights. I doubt he becames a genious since that moment.

Just to give somes ideas, 10..g6 as gived below seems good, but 10..h6 or even 10..Rb8 seems fully ok to me.

I don't know if I want to lose so much time with him again, but I am tired to see him continue to teach us his revolution...

Would you care to indicate where Fritz 12, a world class computer, made any strategic errors so that I have a real target?

I won't argue against your conclusions..  Roll Eyes
Just to see how the land lies, please see your world class computer's performance against the other engines that people usually use for their analyses:
1. When Fritz 12 was new.. http://www.sedatcanbaz.com/chess/ratings/scct-60m10s-rating/
2. Nowadays.. http://www.sedatcanbaz.com/chess/scct-rating/
3. An alternative one: http://www.husvankempen.de/nunn/rating120.htm -> http://www.husvankempen.de/nunn//40120new/40_120_ratinglist/40_120_AllVersion/ra...
..And you can see some posts in Chess & Computers themes here on this forum.  Wink

...I leave it up to endgame specialists to evaluate it. White has a horrible pawn structure but active piece play with: 12...Nb4 13.Nc3 Nxd3 14.Qxd3 Qxd3 15.cxd3 Bxh3 16.gxh3 (?) What next? Fritz likes White but I don't trust it in endgames.

Here is the maneuvering line. Fritz consistently overrates the initiative rather than material:

13.Nc3 Rb8 14.Re3 f6 15.Rb1 Nxd3 16.Rxd3 Qc7 17.Re3 Nc4 18.Re1 Nd6 19.Kh1! Nf5 20.Ng1 Nd4 21.Qd1 & White keeps the pawn.

White was able to keep two extra pawns in the game Vass quoted, and still lost.

Chess players need to be able to evaluate endgames accurately even more than they need to be able to evaluate openings accurately! By saying that you "leave it up to endgame specialists to evaluate" a line, you are abdicating your responsibility to your own game. If you're not an endgame specialist, you may want to work to become one! It will make you a stronger player and a stronger analyst.

Here is one endgame:

8.Qf3 Be7 9.Bd3 O-O 10.O-O g6 11.Re1 Nd5 12.Nh3 Nb4 13.Nc3 Nxd3 14.Qxd3 Qxd3 15.cxd3 Bxh3 16.hxg3 c5?! 17.Rxe5 Nc6 18.Re3 Bf6 19.b3 Bd4 20.Bb2 Bxe3 21.fxe3! Rfd8 22.Ne4 Rxd3 23.Bc3 f5 24.Nxc5 Rd5 25.Ne6 Rc8 & White has Bishop and two pawns for the Rook, one of which is a protected passed pawn, with a solid center and an insecure Black King. I don't know what is best here, but one idea is 26.Nf4 Rd6 27.h4

If these lines ever actually work, it won't be because some 1750 came here and posted a bunch of his opinions about it. And if Black's game is good, which I'm sure it is, it won't be because some 2250 came here and contradicted him. I am not inclined to debate a 1750 about a bunch of computer-generated positions and dubious evaluations, and unless someone else is, sloghter's conclusions will stand in this thread. I would not hold my breath waiting for White's actual wins in this variation, however.

I would also encourage all developing players to uphold, as much as possible, the attack in these gambit situations. Doing so will serve your game much better than constantly trying to find situations where a pawn or two are worth more than the attack. Better even to play the Blackmar-Diemer than 8.Qf3 in the Two Knights.

I only see opinion here when I provided detailed analysis. Would you care to indicate where Fritz 12, a world class computer, made any strategic errors so that I have a real target?

It seems you're an expert in all of these lines.  Roll Eyes
Well then, can you comment on this one (played 2012)?

I'm eager to see your analysis of this game!
You know, recently...no advantage is available for white in Ruy's Marshall, anti-Marshall & Gaiewski lines, so maybe we all have to follow your lines in the Two Knights Defence?! Huh
Anyway, why do you think black played 10...g6 while you give only 10....h6 for black in your last post?  Undecided
Edit: Now I saw your previous posts.. Well, you give 10...g6, but in your post #35 you give 12....f6 next and here black played 12....Nb4  Shocked
So, which one is better? Can you enlighten us?  Huh

The 13.Rxe5 lines look like a draw by repetition so White must try 13.Nc3. Black can play the chop sequence so I leave it up to endgame specialists to evaluate it. White has a horrible pawn structure but active piece play with: 12...Nb4 13.Nc3 Nxd3 14.Qxd3 Qxd3 15.cxd3 Bxh3 16.gxh3 (?) What next? Fritz likes White but I don't trust it in endgames.

In real games against flesh and blood opponents I have found that Rb8 is more than viable and poses several questions to white that are not always so easy to answer.

I have found reliance on engine analysis to be of little effect when faced with these lines otb with both players using their own chess acumen instead of a set of notes culled from the computer.

Of course, these days I side step the entire discussion with 3. ...Be7 and instead ask to see what ideas white really has to test the black position with.

If you check the lines I play against Fritz, I commonly come up with moves no computer would find that subtley improve my position. Unless you can find how my "human" play in a sharp opening like the TKD came be overcome by some resource buried several moves deep, according to Steinitz White has a big advantage. Steinitz believed that a player who had more pawns on their original squares had a big advantage. You will note that I didn't have to play my Knight to the awkward h3 square. My Knight is on c3 at the start and winds up on e2.

Black has no compensation for the pawn as this complex maneuvering game shows. Black reached his maximum and could only shuffle his King waiting for the axe to fall.

Well, lots of luck with those ideas.

White gets out of book quickly here and winds up in a highly favorable endgame: Again this was against Fritz 12 at 40/120.

8.Qf3 h6 9.Ne4 Nd5 10.Be2 Be7 11.Nec3! O-O 12.d3 Nc7 (If planting the Knight on the d4 square is a bad idea, what is better---Black can't just tread water a pawn down) 13.Bd1 Ne6 14.Nd2 Nd4 15.Qh5 g6 16.Qxe5 Re8 17.Nde4 Bh4 18.Qf4 Bg5 19.Qg3 f5 20.O-O fxe4 21.Nxe4 Nf5 22.Bxg5 hxg5 (The "sting" at the end of the combination forces this capture because the Knight on a5 hangs)  23.Qxg5 Qxg5 24.Nxg5 & White with four pawns for the piece gives White excellent chances here.

At the end of the day, if you really think White is better, play this. Personally, I would not.

Bear in mind that Black also has 8...Rb8, a good move.

This game was played after a day'se effort to find best play for both sides. Clearly White has an extra pawn, no pawn weaknesses and active pieces. He has to walk a mine field but Black is never equal.

I don't think that Black equalizes with 8...Rb8. I had to "force" Fritz12 to make good moves. What is amazing is that the most obvious choice for White is not in Fritz's opening book!

8.Qf3 Rb8 9.Be2 h6?! (book) 10.Ne4 Nd5 11.b3! (Not in Fritz's book!---it evaluates this position as +/- after 1/2 hours thought) I had to force Black to play 11...Qc7 12.Bb2 f5 (I had to force Black to play this. White has to calculate the ending is good for Black after 13.Qh5ch Kd8 14.Ng5?! g6 15.Qxg6 hxg5 16.c4 Rh6 17.Qg8 Qg7 18.Qxg7 Bxg7 19.cxd5 cxd5 & look at those pawns!) 13.Nec3 Nf6 14.d3 Bd6 15.Nd2 O-O 16.g3 Be6 17.Qg2 Qe7 18.a3 (White has made progress) Qd7 19.h3 Rf7 20.Bf3 Bc5 21.Na4! (Forcing favorable simplification) Bd4 22.Bxd4 Qxd4 23.Rd1! Nxb3!? (What else---how can passive play succeed?) 24.cxb3 Rxb3 25.Nxb3 Bxb3 26.O-O Bxa4 27.Rc1 e4 28.dxe4 fxe4 29.Bc2 +/-

Black doesn't get the pawn weaknesses that he gets in the 8...Be7 variation. White can catch up in development and crawl out clutching the extra pawn. Either 8...h6 or 8...Be7 are better.

At a practical level Black has more ways to lose.

I think this sounds vague to most of us. But to me it means something. It means that Black may have a specific route to equality or even advantage, but White sets Black problems in the interim, such that if Black doesn't follow or find that route - he's dead.

But to show that, you'd have to demonstrate that Black has only a few ways to play and everything else loses horribly.

But if that were true a lot more players would play this way!

By the way, SF was right...I don't see b4 anymore.

Black appears to have diffficulty equalizing here; perhaps someone can find improvements for Black:

8.Qf3 Be7 9.O-O O-O 10.Bd3 g6 11.Re1 Nd5 12.Nh3 f6 13.b3 Nb4 14.Bb2 Rf7 15.Bc3 Nxd3 16.Qxd3 Qb6 17.Qe2 g5 18.Kh1 g4 19.Ng1 Bf5 20.d3 Nb7 21.Nd2 Nd6 22.Nc4 Nxc4 23.bxc4 Rb8 24.f3 Rg7 25.fxg4 Bxg4 26.Nf3 & Fritz has this as +/-
