Thanks for your help. No, it was not that game (interesting one, though!). Bf3 was not played as a capture. I remember seeing it in a middle game book a few years ago, but can't remember which one (thought it was "attacking manual" but apparently it's not). I'll keep on searching. Thanks again for your help.

Z. Hracek - J. Polgar, Istanbul 2000, is a quick mating attack by Judit Polgar on the black side of a Taimanov Sicilian. The last tactic is 25...Bxf3. This may not be the game you mean, but it's worth playing through; it's also game 14 in The Sicilian Taimanov by John Emms.

Doesn't sound familiar, but I tried to find a game like that in my database. Haven't found a candidate yet.

Was it Bb7-f3, so no capture? There are lots of games that have that move as a capture, not so many where it's a normal move.

And were the players strong? At some point I restricted the search to both players 2200+.

Searching for a game

Hi everyone,

Some time ago I came across a really nice game (in a relatively recent book), featuring a very nice king-side attack by black. I have been trying to look for it but to no avail. Here is what I remember:

- started as an open sicilian (a 2...e6 line I believe)
- black put its bishop on b7
- at one point (somewhat early in the game, i.e., around move 20 or so) black plays Bb7-f3 winning (white has castles on the king side)

Does that sound familiar to anyone? Thanks for your help!
