I hope this will be covered. (But it will not I am sure)

1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 a6 6.Bg5 Bg4

It has been played by Lev Gutman at nearly 2500 elo level. A game that lasted for 211 moves! (draw). Quite interesting move. Lets call it the Gutman variation. Black should try to do what he can to increase whites workload in the 6.Bg5 variation. Like the french players who found 3...Be7 in the Tarrasch.

white plays 7.Qd2, a move he wants to play anyway to castle long, and what's that bishop doing there on g4? white can choose between f3 and h3 to chase it away and as long as it stays on g4 black can't play e6, so white might try f4-f5 to trap the bishop
I think 6...Bd7 at once is a better move

ps: it seems skipping a move is better than playing 6...Bg4?

You have a point. But still we have a new position in the 6.Bg5 Najdorf. On 7.Qd2 black plays 7...Nc6 and if the bishop is attacked it retreats to d7. Whites pawn structure on the kingside has then been somewhat weakened (even though it looks like a typicall english attack pawn structure). If white plays 7.f3 black plays 7....Bd7. On 7. Be2  black plays 7...Bxe2 followed by Nbd7 or Nc6.

Yes, this will be covered but only 9.ef which is by far the most critical.

Very quickly, yes. But I kind of agree with Georgiev's and Kolev's comments in the Sharpest Sicilian 2012 that the delayed PP is kind of meaningless and it does give White an additional option in the form of 9.a3!? which I've analysed to be pretty dangerous.

This is a truncated, unedited version of the commentary on 13....0-0 in my upcoming book. Views are welcome  Smiley

Right now, I'm looking to get the first draft ready by 1 November 2013 and hopefully to get it published by the end of the year.

I don't have a table of contents yet but I promise the most topical lines are in and the book will include numerous improvements to current established theory with some big surprises in store. Smiley

Hi all,

The lines above will all be discussed in the book but unfortunately, due coverage has to be given to the Poisoned Pawn, such is the surge in popularity in the last 5-10 years. However, I have suggested plenty of new tries for both colours which is an attempt to keep things fresh and relevant.

Please feel free to post your queries here and I will be happy to address those.

Kevin
