So we have a winner.  Congrats to Nikos on the back-to-back wins!  Smiley

I don't know if its fair to draw conclusions from such a small sample size, but I note that, although they both contained a fair bit of theory, the top two finishers were mostly praised for their lucid explanations.

In light of that, I think it would be interesting to know whether in the broader marketplace these types of books (for example, the Quality Chess “Playing ... ” series) outsell the theory-heavy books (for example, the Quality Chess Grandmaster Preparation series).

Our little poll may also confirm that you don’t need to be a GM to write a great chess book.

Thanks to IM Serious for running the poll.

There really should have been a set and announced closing time for voting when the poll was opened. I suggest setting one now, for instance the end of June. Is it possibly to do that technically?

IM_Serious set up the poll and probably has some control over it.

I would have preferred, as I posted in the 2016 thread and in this one before the vote began, that we restricted voting to members who have actually been at least somewhat active in our community (minimum of 15 posts, say, or who became members before the poll opened). But in any case I'm honored to have received the votes that I have, and Ntirlis' book is certainly worthy if that is eventually selected.

So far, a tie. How long does this Poll continue to run? Or did it end already? Will there be two winners? Bit silent, all of this.

How about a runoff between the two leaders?

Can't one of the moderators make the poll sticky?

Done!

I had no idea it was open. The whole thing seemed to vanish after the nominations. Glad I saw it--I voted for Ntirlis.

Bump.

How long are we keeping this open?

I'm not asking to rush anything, it's just that I want to vote while I still can, but am struggling to make up my mind. So what is the time control here?  Cool

Isn't there normally a new thread with the vote? People may just miss that a poll got added to this thread, no? I almost didn't click in because I didn't have much to add to the Nominations

E: I guess if this gets pinned and/or the Thread title is edited with something like VOTE STARTED!, that's fine too

Good initiative. It's about time for a vote.

Are we restricting voting to forum members only this year?

Yes, Members Only.

These titles were omitted because they were published 2016 and already included in the 2016 poll.

Pert - Playing the Ragozin
Smirin - King's Indian Warfare
