Nope, I don't know who the composer is, but it did bring me great satisfaction working it out. I try to solve at least one practical puzzle a day to keep my mind agile as part of my preparation for a return to OTB Chess.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I'm happy to post more if this one is well received.

Your puzzle is like checkers! Do you know the composer?

Solution: 1.Qe4+ Kb8 2.Rb6+ Bxb6 3.Ka6 Rd7 4.Qa8+ Kxa8 5.Nxb6+ Kb8 6.Nxd7+ Kc7 7.Nxf8 +-

For some reason the position seems familiar to me, but the solution is very different from what I (vaguely) remember. I was so warm in the first few minutes, then cold, then I slept on it which always works!

This also shows an advantage of the transparent hiding method vs the yellow one: it doesn't give away the length of the solution.

To better simulate real gameplay, I won't indicate what the result is supposed to be or how many moves the solution is. Let your analysis determine the correct outcome.

Good luck  Smiley
