Below is the complete PGN for that game.

Oh and BTW, I'm only headed toward 2250 on ficgs, anything higher than that will be extremely difficult to acheive, unless I get a really high-end desktop to regularly and easily evalutate lines to a considerable length Wink

instead of 8...Qxf6, Black can instead try 8...Bf5!?

That should be an interesting game.

As the title alludes to, in the Ponz, after1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. c3 Nf6 4. d4 exd4 5.e5 Ne4, and then 6.Qe2 f5 7.exf6 d5 8.Nbd2, instead of 8...Qxf6, Black can instead try 8...Bf5!?  Then after White's 2 best tries, 9.Nxe4 and 9.f7+, his advantage, per Stockfish 17 at depth 60+, is only 0.1 to 0.15.

So 8...Bf5 seems viable for centaur play (I play on FICGS and am on my way to 2300 there), and I am about to try it out.  In the line 9.f7+ Black does forfeit King safety, and I've seen Stockfish underestimate King activity, so maybe it's under estimating King safety?  But digging deeper it seems that Black easily holds.

Also in OTB/Blitz play, White my fall for 9.Nh4??, in my 365chess there is one game with this where White won, LOL, there is 9...cxb2! which wins for Black

I will follow up with the results from my centaur game when it's finished.
