Well, according to Alburt, or more likely Schiller, 7 e6 is 'inappropriate' and White has nothing after 7...Bxe6 8 Bxe6 fxe6 9 Ng5 Qd7 10 Qf3 Bf6 as in Somebody-Cafferty, Somewhere, About 1971 (memory a little hazy here). Which looks fair to me.

1.e4 Nf6 2.e5 Nd5 3.d4 d6 4.Nf3 g6 5.Bc4 Nb6 6.Bb3 Bg7 7.e6!?

During a blitz game, this position arose and I couldn't resist the chance to hand out a free pawn.  My opponent declined with O-O? which is obviously not the greatest choice.

The critical test of my little sacrifice would be to take it with Bxe6 or fxe6.

Does this move have any merit or was my whim a little faulty?  The weakened e-pawn and weakened kingside surely provide some compensation, but what does everyone else think?
