Blacks "advantage" is that he should know this fact even better! ...and play something slightly different like 6-,Qd5!?
I dont know, but Khalifman might also have something convincing against that... Tongue

I wont defend "my" line as the BDG'ers and will stop here  Lips Sealed

...as I "know" there are objectively better alternatives than 4-,Nf6 Wink
(It is hard to give up the variation u know best of them all....... Embarrassed)

Even Gallagher in his starting out book, makes mention of the c3/g3 line. He is even going as far as saying that black should not play this line since it is not uncommon knowledge for white players.
So if you wanna try playing it it is at your own risk and you should preferably play it against me Wink

If nothing else works, a total pig-headed unwillingness to look facts in the face will see us through.

6-,Qd5!? is the move I have been playing lately (although the CK is not my main weapon any more).

It also has the advantage of avoiding some dangerous 6.c3 Bf5 7.Ne2!? stuff

Btw, I didnt understand your 6-,Nf3 line.... (That is not possible, right!?)

Yes the 6.)c3 line is covered with some depth. Black is given several choices which are as follows 6.)....Bf5 which is the move ussually seen but again several other ideas exist such as 6.)...... Nf3 has some promise for black according  to the book. They also make mention of 6.)...Qd5 . Very interesting book I must say....while I'M sure against best play this variation may suffer but against a lesser or unawares opponent this may proove to be quite a surprise weapon!

The c3 / g3 lines are considered difficult for black these days  Tongue

3.Nc3/Nd2 dxe4 4.Nxe4 Nf6 5.Nxf6 gxf6!? 6.c3!  (with g3 to come) lines

El Khalif uses this variation as his "refutation" in his Anand-series

White develops easily and black has to be careful, very careful.....  (Black probably should avoid normal Larsen/Bronstein development....)

Does the book look at this idea?

I was browsing through the used bookstore today & came across a mint copy of IM Silman's The Dynamic Caro Cann. It would seem the BronsteinLarsen lines & some original Caro lines are the focus of the book. I picked up a copy and though it is ancient (1989) I'M just curious  about how relevant are these lines today? ANyone familiar with the book? How does it hold up?? Kiss
